Finance is everywhere. Its application is not confined to financial experts, specialists,
analysts or academicians. Every individual carries out financial activity, implicitly or
explicitly. The area of application of Finance has further been widened, deepened and
permeated after the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana launched
earlier in August 2014.
The book "Financial System: Navigating the Basics" defines and explains the terms that are
frequently used in financial jargon but are misunderstood or rarely understood in their true
sense, especially by the common people, because of their lack of exposure to these terms.
Because of their non-understanding of these terms in correct form, they become vulnerable to
various financial scams, frauds and deceits perpetuated and advanced by unscrupulous
persons and entities.
Some terms may be highly technical, while others are not. All these terms have been
compiled, and their meanings have been described in a lucid and precise manner so that their
exact connotations may be grasped in the right perspective by the reader. The book makes the
reader navigate smoothly through the terminology used in the field of finance. The
compilation is comprehensive, and the presentation is interesting. The book will be useful to
both segments of the readers — those who are Finance-literate and those who are not. The
common people in general and students, scholars and researchers in particular, working in the
field of finance, will benefit by adding value to their knowledge base through this book.
